Mapmaking Workshop: Reconstructing Early Land Tract Lines on Fauquier County's Modern Landscape
         6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Kimberly Abe of Fauquier County Community Development will demonstrate how researchers use current and historic maps to reconstruct the history of a property. She’ll present various historic maps of Fauquier County and discuss a communitywide project to develop a publicly accessible digital database of Fauquier County’s historic tract maps. Location: Marshall Community Center. FREE.
      
Leonid Meteor Shower
         7:00 PM - 11:00 PM. All Ages Welcome!(Ages 17 and under must have an adult chaperone.)This will be a great opportunity to view the rare event called the Leonid Meteor Shower. Meteor showers are caused by the Earth passing through the path a comet has traveled. Debris left over from the comet’s last passage may enter the Earth’s atmosphere, creating a meteor shower. Many telescopes will be available thanks to the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club to view this unique event. Wear weather appropriate clothing, and bring blankets and snacks. Registration is not required. This is a free event to Fauquier County residents. Admission for non-county residents is $6 per vehicle, payable at the gate.Location: C.M. Crockett Park, parking area nearest the front gate.

12th Annual Remington 5K Turkey Trot
         10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. All Ages Welcome! At last year’s event, the Town of Remington cheered on over 120 runners! The ever-coveted Thanksgiving turkeys, pumpkin pies and poinsettias will be awarded to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place division winners. There are eleven divisions in both male and female age categories as follows: 14 & under; 15-18; 19-25; 26-30; 31-35; 36-40; 41-45; 46-50; 51-55; 56-60 and 61 & over. Pre-register by November 7th. Pre-registration costs $20. Race day registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and costs $25. Pre-registered participants are guaranteed a long sleeve special event t-shirt on race day. Chesham Creek Band Concert
         6:30 PM - The FCPRD and the Warrenton Community Center are excited to present the Chesham Creek Band in concert. This local band, with a unique sound of folk, bluegrass, and country, will play selections from their latest CD Highway of Broken Dream with lyrics that celebrate the mountains of Southwest Virginia to the rolling hills of Culpeper Virginia. The Sumerduck Goodtimers, another local Fauquier County band, will open up for Chesham Creek on this night of toetappin’ music. Advance tickets on sale Monday, November 9 until Friday, November 20 during regular office hours (M-F, 8:30-5:00) at the Warrenton Community Center; day-of tickets available in the WCC lobby from 5:30 to 6:00 pm and then at the door starting at 6:00pm.
