Teaching and Non-Teaching Positions
All substitute applicants are required to complete a Fauquier County Public Schools' employment application, paperwork packet, background check, and attend an orientation/training session.

Long Term Substitute Rates:
Substitute serves for the same teacher, librarian, health specialist or school
nurse position for more than 10 consecutive days; pay increase begins on the
11th day.
Long-term Substitutes with a High School Diploma |
$85.00 per day |
Paperwork Packet, Background Check and Training Requirements
ALL substitutes will be required to complete the following items PRIOR to be permitted to attend an orientation session:
- Paperwork Packet – Download and fill out prior to coming to Human Resources
- Virginia State Police fingerprint check and FBI fingerprint check
- You will be required to pay $44.00 for the background investigations.
- This can be done by personal check or money order, made payable to “Treasurer, Fauquier County”
- Cash is not accepted.
- Social Services Child Protective Services Registry background check.
- Child Abuse and Neglect: Recognizing, Reporting, and Responding for Educators This training is free online at www.vcu.edu/vissta/training/va_teachers. When you complete the training, you will be emailed a certificate of completion.

All orientation sessions are held at the Marshall
Community Center. Substitute orientation/training sessions will last approximately 4 hours. The time will be 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Registration is required. Registration will not be permitted until application submission, paperwork packet, and background check are completed.
