GRAPEVINE News and Updates:
New Reional Superintendent: The Eastern Region
is excited to welcome Keith Meyerl as their new Regional Superintendent.
Keith comes to Fauquier after serving as director of Parks and
Recreation in Fluvanna County. Meyerl sees Fauquier as a larger
version of Fluvanna, mostly rural, convenient to a larger metropolitan
region, with preservation of local history and conservation of
resources in the heart of its residents. One of Keith’s goals is
to provide services that will allow residents to stay at home in
their recreation. Think Fauquier First! “We talk about the importance
of providing services that are both convenient and affordable for
our residents. By allowing our residents to recreate at home, it
also helps support local businesses (by keeping their various purchases
(gas, groceries, etc) right here in Fauquier.” “The Eastern Region
is so close to Fairfax and Manassas, that it’s easy for folks to
leave Fauquier to recreate, while potentially taking their purchasing
dollars outside the county as well,” Meyerl states.
“It’s our goal as a region to provide programs, activities and
facilities that our residents can find a good value and an exceptional
experience every time they participate with us.” Take a look at
our activities for the Holiday Season. I invite you to come recreate
with us right here in Fauquier County.
Lake Brittle News: As of February 1, 2009, Lake
Brittle located at 4354 Lake Brittle Road, Warrenton, VA 20187,
has been returned to the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
Due to budget cuts in the County, Parks and Recreation will no
longer be running the lake operations. For more information regarding
Lake Brittle please call VDGIF, John Odenkirk or Steve Owens at
